List your demo on plel
plel is a place to discover games worth buying. Every game here is a demo of a product that is for sale or coming soon, and anyone can play it right in their browser. If your game fits, you can list its demo here in a few minutes.
What you get
- A place made for games you can buy. plel only lists demos of games that are for sale or coming soon, so your demo isn't buried among free games and jam entries.
- Played in seconds. Players start your demo right in the browser, with no download or install, and your store page is one click away.
- A link that opens straight into your demo. Share your plel page anywhere, and people can play right away.
- Numbers you can check. Your dashboard shows plays and clicks on each of your links.
- Free, and still yours. Listing is free, you keep all rights, and you can update or remove your demo anytime.
To be upfront: plel is new, and traffic is still small. We can't promise players, but listing is free, takes a few minutes, and you can take your demo down whenever you like.
How to list your demo
- Log in with your email. We'll send you a login link, so there's no password. (You must be 16 or older to create an account.)
- Upload a ZIP of your web build with index.html inside. Unity WebGL, Godot, and plain HTML5 games all work (see Supported formats).
- Add a link to your store or wishlist page, preview your demo, and publish.
Questions developers ask
Do I give up any rights to my game?
No. You keep all rights. You allow plel to host and show your demo, and to use its title, thumbnail, and description to promote plel and your game (Terms of Service, section 4).
Can I update or remove it later?
Yes. You can replace the game files or delete the game anytime from its edit page. When you update, your plel link stays the same.
Do I need to make a special build for plel?
No. Upload the web build you already have. plel is designed for desktop browsers, so make sure your demo plays well there.
Upload guidelines
What you can and can't upload, and how to make the most of your listing.
What you can list
plel lists demos of games that are for sale or coming soon:
- Demos of released games (games people can buy on Steam, itch.io, and so on)
- Demos of upcoming games (leading to a wishlist or crowdfunding page)
- Demos of early access or in-development games that are meant to become products
In every case, add a link to the product page or the upcoming product page, so players who like the demo know where to go next.
It's fine for the demo itself to be free (demos usually are). What matters is that there is a product people can buy beyond it.
What you can't list
- Complete free games (nothing to buy after playing on plel)
- Free games that only ask for tips or donations (this is different from buying a product)
- Game jam entries or study projects that aren't meant to become products
- Prototypes or tech demos with no plans to become products
- Tools, apps, or other non-game content
plel isn't a place for "anything playable." We keep listings focused so that people can discover games worth buying.
Why we keep listings focused
We want plel to be the place where you find games worth buying. If we listed everything, the games you can actually buy would get buried. Limiting listings to demos of real products helps visitors find the games they truly want to play.
Rules
Copyright and intellectual property
- Only use assets that you made or have permission to use.
- Don't upload assets from commercial games or unauthorized fan works.
- If you use free assets, follow their license terms.
Safety
- No malware, viruses, or malicious scripts.
- Don't include scripts that collect players' personal data.
- If your game has jump scares or intense flashing, warn players in the description.
Content
- No excessive violence or sexual content, and nothing that sexualizes minors.
- No content that unfairly demeans others, no discriminatory content, and no harassment.
- Avoid content that is excessively provocative on political or religious topics.
Tips
Thumbnail
- 1200×630 is recommended (a 1920×1080 screenshot also works as is).
- Pick a screen that shows what's fun about your game at a glance.
Title
- Short and memorable works best.
Description
- Say what kind of game it is in the first few lines.
- Add practical information, such as controls and play time.
- Feel free to link your social accounts or other games (URLs become links automatically).
Links
- Add a link to your product page or upcoming product page.
- You can also add Steam, itch.io, X (Twitter), YouTube, Discord, and more (up to 10 links).
- Use them for sales, updates, or your other games.
Supported formats (technical specs)
- Upload a ZIP of your web build, with index.html at the top level (or directly inside a single folder).
- The ZIP can be up to 300 MB, and up to 900 MB and 500 files after unzipping.
- Unity (WebGL build): any compression setting (Brotli, Gzip, or Disabled) works as is. The default settings are fine.
- Godot: ZIP the whole Web export. Export with thread support turned off, because multi-threaded web builds aren't supported.
- Other engines and handmade HTML5 games are welcome too, as long as the game starts from index.html.
For players
Games on plel are uploaded by third-party developers. When you play:
- plel doesn't guarantee the content or safety of games.
- Check where external links go before you click them.
- Some games may include flashing lights or rapid screen changes. Take care if you're sensitive to them.
- If you find an inappropriate game, use "Report this game" on its page.
Removal of uploads
To keep plel focused, we may remove uploads without prior notice if:
- we can't confirm the game is for sale or coming soon,
- there is no link to a product or store page,
- it is clearly spam, or
- it otherwise breaks these guidelines.
Removals are decided manually by the operator. If we remove or unpublish your game, we will email you the reason. If you disagree, just reply to that email. See section 8 of the Terms of Service for details.
Reporting
If you find an inappropriate upload, report it with the "Report this game" link on its game page. No account is needed. We will review the report and act if needed.
